Still and quiet

FullSizeRenderIn the stillness and the somber of my morning, I opened my chemo pills. I prayed over each pill I took this morning as if it were the Lord’s Supper. Begging that the Lord would just use these little, toxic pills to transform my life. That somehow, His plan was for me to get to this point so He could restore me with this drug, if only temporarily. I have more fight in me and I am not ready to find out that this drug is not enough. I have more memories to make, more feet to rub at night, more hair to brush, more clothes to wash, more goldfish to sweep off the floor, more papers to sign, more meals to clean up, more soccer to watch, more days with friends, more belly-laughs, more bible studies, more lunches with my man, more head rubs, more.

I am thankful for this day. After a dark night of pain and loneliness, God’s goodness meets me just where I need it. In the form of my man knowing I needed to see him this morning before he went to work, some laughs with mom and dad, finally a hairwash, lunch and company from friends and the possibility of seeing an end to my stay here.

Pray with me that this drug, Xeloda, will specifically target the rebellious cells in my body. Search and find them wherever they are and destroy them. Please pray that I have the energy and life in me to continue to live these weeks and fight. And in 3 weeks, may we see a little more of God’s plan revealed. And may my soul be ready and prepared for that plan.

  3. We are praying for you, specifically that the chemo works!!! Sending love and hope from TN!

  4. Julie, there are folks here in Oklahoma praying for you, too. As you so well stated, we will ask God for more memories, more hair to brush, even more goldfish scattered around. May you feel His love and strength. As you wait for the more, remember Psalm 30:5 – “Weeping may last for the night, but a shout of joy comes in the morning.”

  5. We are praying here in Oregon, too, Julie, for you and Ethan and your girls (alongside the Hamms). Thank you for allowing Him to be seen in your life and for sharing yourself and being real.

  6. AMEN.

Mike and I commit to continue being there for you, your exquisite description of where you are, what you want and the role we beg our merciful loving father to play.

    He will provide.

I firmly believe from the moment Ann and John Fregia prayed with us last summer for Kent Brantly to be healed (along with thousands) until the minute we knew he had been…OUR GOD WORKED MIRACLES.

WE ARE STORMING HIS PRAYER FEED, IT WILL NOT CRASH. He gives us adversity that we might strengthen our reliance on him. You are young, but you are a perfect example of the response Abraham gave when called to sacrifice Issac.

He can be persuaded, he can perform miracles, we serve the one true living God. We ask for a miracle as obvious to those who believe as the one performed on Kent because you God have told us to ask…believing.

Regardless of his perfect will we who are his children are all winners! I’m standing on his promises. And when my hour comes I pray I will aspire to be a Julie, I AM SO VERY PROUD OF YOU.

  7. Julie, we continue to pray for God’s strength to help you through and his strong arms to carry you through this round and get you back to your family. You are not alone!

  8. Praying for you and every doctor, nurse, and staff member who cares for you that they see to every need you have. I also pray that in every moment of this difficult walk you are held up by the many who love you so much. And that in everything God will be glorified.

  9. Praying for the things you specifically mentioned. Jeremiah 7:-8 says, “Blessed are those who trust in the Lord, whose trust IS the Lord. They shall be like a tree planted by water, sending out its roots by the stream. It shall not fear when heat comes and its leaves shall stay green; in the year of drought it is not anxious and it does not cease to bear fruit.”
